Every legislative session has different challenges. In an effort to reach out to more legislators during the 82nd Legislature, we need your help. If you know a state representative and/or a state senator in your area and we can call upon you to make contact regarding legislation that affects justices of the peace and constables, please complete the Adopt a Legislator form and mail it to Constable Bruce Elfant.

The legislature adjourned sine die yesterday after 5 p.m. The governor then called a special session to convene at 8 a.m. this morning to address issues the two chambers were unable to agree upon. As of 9 a.m. this morning, six bills had been referred to committees in the Senate:
SB 1, SB 2, SB 5, and SB 7 referred to Senate Finance; SB 6 & SB 8 referred to Senate Education.
Attached is Judge Hansen's final updated list of bills of JP interest from the regular session which is now ended.
